Women around the globe are most affected by climate change, according to Osprey Orielle Lake, the Founder of the Women’s Environmental and Climate Action Network International (WECAN), for a number of reasons.
Hear why and about the novel trainings that WECAN is providing to women across the globe from joining the Women’s March in D.C. to conducting detailed trainings in Third World countries most at risk from climate change, to United Nations conferences.
WECAN is teaching these women concrete steps they can take to protect their communities and families, as well as how they can make their voices heard above the cacophony – and how to keep a seat at the decision- making table.
Listen to Osprey’s unusual conversation with Green Connections Radio host Joan Michelson here the details.
Whether you support the new U.S. administration or not, there is no doubt that climate change is disproportionately hitting low-income areas, as stressed by Pope Francis repeatedly and in his encyclical on the environment and his address to the U.S. Congress.
WECAN Founder and President Osprey Orielle Lake also tells Joan about her prior career as an artist and what inspired her to start WECAN, as well as how you can become involved, if you are so inclined.
