“By some estimates, nearly half of the food grown, processed and transported in the U.S. goes to waste.” Feeding America
While so much food is wasted, over 13% of the population is going hungry in the U.S., including 13 million children and 5 million senior citizens, according to Feeding America. How do we get the food that would be wasted to those who are hungry?
Listen to the creative solutions Dow Chemical’s Haley Lowry tells host Joan Michelson about. Lowry is Global Sustainability and End Use Marketing Director for Dow, focused on using packaging to reduce food waste and enable food to get to the hungry.
You’ll hear about:
- Packaging to preserve food longer, reduce food waste and enable more people to be fed.
- Reducing the environmental impact of packaging.
- What we cannot recycle now and why.
- Converting packaging waste to energy
- Role of business in sustainability and feeding the hungry.
Plus, how she integrated her passion for sustainability into her career and other career tips.
