Women’s History – Joan Wages, National Women’s History Museum

Women’s History – Joan Wages, National Women’s History MuseumOne hundred and five years ago, on March 3, 1913, women marched for the right to vote, turning the tides of history. It took another 7+ years for women to gain suffrage with the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
How did we get here? Today, to commemorate International Women’s Day 2018, we are featuring the woman leading the effort for a National Women’s History Museum on the National Mall in Washington, DC,. Joan Wages.
I, Green Connections Radio host Joan Michelson, am proud to say my great-great aunt Miriam Michelson was a reporter covering the suffrage movement, who kept the movement on the front page from start to passage.
Enjoy this inspiring conversation that reminds us how far we’ve come — and how far we have yet to go.

Women now makeup 51 percent of the electorate and turn elections. This coming November, some are predicting that how women vote will determine who controls the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.
