Summer Heat & Water – Dow Water’s Snehal Desai

As you head for the beach or lake for your vacation, soothed by nature, remember that there are 1.2 billion people who live in water scarcity – and that drought truly threatens our food supply.

Our very survival depends upon sufficient water. After all, our bodies — and our brains – are mostly water. Our brain and heart are 73% water; our lungs are ~83% water, our skin is 64% water, and our muscles and kidneys are 79% water.  Our bones? 31% water.
1.2 billion people do not have enough water to survive, and are under water stress. Think about if you turn on your faucet and nothing comes out. Have you checked out your produce prices? The rise is the economic impact of the severe drought threatening our food supply.

What can we do about it?

Listen to Electric Ladies host Joan Michelson’s fascinating conversation with Dow Water’s Global Head of Water and Power, Snehal Desai. As we take our last beach vacations of the summer, we thought it was a good time to re-air this interview, that also reminds us to be resourceful and conserving. (This was recorded as Green Connections Radio.)

Snehal Desai explains the challenges and innovative technologies that bring clean water that keeps many of us alive and fed. You’ll learn tips for driving innovation too.
